This is one of the biggest STEALS for a show we’ve ever had. AWESOME!
Here’s some info about the bands:
From My Son The Hurricane’s CBC Radio 3 profile:
“Remember back in pre school when you used to walk with your class holding on to a rope so you didn’t lose anyone? Thats how it feels to be in 13 piece Toronto based My Son the Hurricane. The group which features 8 horns (3 sax, 2 trombones, 2 trumpets, sousaphone) and a veteran rhythm section has been steadily winning fans and exposing them to a genre most didn’t know existed. “Brasshop” as defined by founding father and drummer Danno O’Shea who started the band with fellow Humber college student Nelson Beattie. The band had much buzzed sets this year at Hillside, Sauble Beach and Scene music festivals. Newly signed to Vancouver’s Copperspine Records, Hurricane will be dropping their first full length album in the spring of 2011. Until then the band will squeezing onto tiny stages and bringing a big sound! ”
From D-Sisive’s bandcamp site:
“D-Sisive is the stage name of Derek Christoff, a prolific Canadian rapper,[1] best known for his Juno Award-nominated EP The Book, his hit single “Nobody With A Notepad” (for which D-Sisive and collaborator Muneshine won SOCAN’s fourth annual ECHO Songwriting Prize) and his 2009 Polaris Music Prize-nominated album Let the Children Die (which was launched by the success of “Nobody With A Notepad”).”
