James O-L solo CD Release and Eric Boucher’s documentary “Windsor Shift Change” double-bill at Capitol Theatre Thursday, October 10th

We all know James Oltean-Lepp and Eric Boucher.

James has been performing in the Windsor music scene since he was 15. Eric has been making videos, docs and short films since 1998. They know what they’re doing.

James O-L is known recently for his work with his full band, James O-L and the Villains…but while he was on an extended trip to Ecuador, he wrote a bucket of songs and is releasing them as uniquely as a solo project can be released…with a 13-piece ensemble at the Capitol Theatre.

It’s ambitious…but it’s fantastic. James has been focused in a way I’ve never seen him. Eye of the tiger.
He’s selling his brand new CD (‘For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky’) for $10 AND he has a 7″ vinyl record with two tracks on it, but the $10 vinyl includes a download code for the rest of the album. (I’m buying that, guaranteed)

The live performance will have video projection on top of, and behind, the band on the screen that Eric Boucher’s documentary will be showing on prior to the FULL band experience.

Boucher’s doc is a glimpse at the problematic, but often triumphant Windsor, Ontario arts scene. It runs 50 minutes, and begins at 8pm. It’s a look at some of the people who put together shows, the talent, the movers and shakers and the lovers of the cultural community in Windsor.

The doors open at 7pm, where you can get a beer, a glass of wine and find your first-come-first-serve theatre seat. Film at 8pm. Q&A with Eric Boucher after the film. A quick drink/bathroom break, and then the live performance begins.

Tickets are $12 of you buy them before Thursday night. $15 at the door.
This is the first dynamic, double-bill, mixed-media event I’ve heard about happening in the Capitol…and I think it’s a really special thing to see.
